A few months ago I took a vow to spend less time communicating electronically. After the production of ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE: REDEMPTION suddenly I found myself with over a thousand Facebook friends sending thousands of messages, with a phone that never stops ringing, an email box I can never seem to keep on top of...and it was taking its toll. Without divulging too many gory details, it simply became too much information and communication for one person to handle...and I was not prepared. So I said "screw it". I can't keep up anyways. I'm done with this game of "likes" and comments and desperate self-promotion. And I dropped off the 'net. I didn't quit filmmaking, didn't stop doing what I was doing...I just stopped trying to tell everybody about it.

For a time, life was good. Not getting enraged by an asinine Facebook feed hourly lowered my blood pressure significantly, and it definitely gave me more time to do things I actually cared about. I spent some quality time with family and friends, learned some home improvement skills, rediscovered that long lost art of "talking-face-to-face" and generally straightened out my act while I completed the final stages of ZA:R "disconnected".

But for better or worse, we're living in the year 2011. If you're not doing a bunch of your communication online, you're probably not a very effective communicator anymore. So I had to reconnect.

If I was smart, I would've gotten a secretary or a personal assistant to help me run this operation, but I can't afford to pay that person what they're worth. Instead I had to look to other alternatives, and one of the better ideas seemed to be "a blog". With a blog, I can reach out to everybody who's interested in what I have to say all at once. I only have to answer the same question once, make the same announcement once. No repeats = a happy Ryan.

That being said, I have some announcements to make.

The DVD, Blu-Ray and video on-demand rights for ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE: REDEMPTION (both domestic and international) have been purchased by Pacific Entertainment Corp and the DVD will be released in the US early October, 2011. If you checked their website you're probably saying, "But, it looks like they do baby and Christian products. ZA:R eats a baby and blows up a church." Yes, it's true; Pacific Entertainment made a name for themselves with their Baby Genius line of products, but they'll be applying the same contacts (they're former Weinstein employees), techniques, and professionalism to their release of ZA:R as they use it (as well as THE HAGSTONE DEMON and SILENT NIGHT, ZOMBIE NIGHT - also being released at a similar time) to establish themselves as real-deal horror distributors.

It hasn't been as easy as just signing the rights over and kicking back, however. For the last few weeks I've been burning the candle at both ends to get as much bonus content as possible finished. While everything I would've liked on the disc didn't make it, it still has a bunch of really cool stuff. You've got a 10-minute "making of documentary", a commentary track, 5 deleted scenes, 3 trailers, a classy photo gallery, and more. Oh, and the movie looks and sounds spectacular with a gorgeous encode and an awesome 5.1 surround mix.

I also created a new trailer for the movie! The classic comments on the 6-minute "extended trailer" never fail to amuse, but I figured I'd set these kids straight with a legit action-packed 1-minute trailer. Hopefully this will prove that ZA:R is indeed a "real movie" and not just a fake trailer. So, spread it around! Get psyched up!
